BLASTBALL DIVISION FAQs

Below are most of the things you need to know about our Blastball  Division but  should you have any  additional questions please contact our VP, Blastball Operations, Mark Doran at markdd74@yahoo.ca

Q: WHAT IS BLASTBALL?

A: Blastball is an introduction to baseball for boys and girls, ages 4 and 5 years, where the players learn to hit, throw and catch the baseball.  They also learn how to run the bases and other essential fundamentals of baseball.  The players will not compete in actual games nor be placed on teams but instead they will all play together to learn and have fun with the basic elements of the game.

Q: WHERE IS BLASTBALL PLAYED?

A: All Blastball games are played at Silvercreek Park (across from the Richview Library at 1806 Islington Avenue).

Q: WHEN DO WE PLAY?

A: We play on Saturday mornings from 9 to 10 am, starting Saturday June 4 to September 10 when they will receive their trophies.

Q: WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING TO THE GAME?

A: A baseball glove, some water or juice and a small snack for your active player. Due to COVID each player must have their own sanitizer and we strongly suggest batting gloves. Masks must be worn when the players are off the field and during practice. When playing the First Baseman must wear a mask.

Q: WHERE CAN I PARK?

A: Parking is available next to the diamond at the school or at the Richview Library.

Q: WILL THERE BE UNIFORMS?

A: All players receive a baseball cap, jersey and pants (on a date to be determined). All players MUST wear the full uniform, including the pants for all games. We are not insured if players are not in full uniform, including the pants, so the player would  not be able to play. Running shoes are required, no open toed shoes.

Q: ARE THERE CALL-UPS TO T-BALL?

A: Normally yes there would be callups, but because of COVID we cannot have callups this year..

Q: WHERE CAN I REGISTER MY CHILD?

A: You can sign up on line on the website. You can also download a registration form (and the other documents required) from the website and mail it to the league at our post office box (which address is on the registration form).

Q: WHEN IS PICTURE DAY?

A: Picture days will be held on June 13, 14 and 15 at St. Maurice Catholic School, the day and time for Blastball is to be determined.

Q: WHAT ABOUT SNACKS FOR THE CHILDREN?

A: At the beginning of the season each team generally makes a snack list and each week one parent will be asked to bring something for the team. The snacks should always be something healthy plus a juice drink.  NO PEANUT PRODUCTS.
