Below are most of the things you need to know about our Junior Division but should you have any additional questions please contact our VP of Senior Baseball, Mark Evangelista, at email@example.com.
All Junior games are played at the Centennial Park Optimist Diamond on Sundays and Mondays. We are in discussions with three Mississauga teams as well to be played on Sundays and Mondays at their diamonds. All players should arrive at least 15 minutes prior to game time to warm up. Games will be forfeited if not enough players arrive 15 minutes after start time. If you cannot come please advise your coach as we can use call-ups from the Midget level.
The location for the practices will be on the Centennial Park Optimist Diamond. Practices depend on availability of diamonds and when the team and coaches are available, primarily at this level practices are on Saturdays and Sundays on Centennial Park Optimist Diamond. Practices are once a week for two hours.
We play 7 full innings in a game unless stopped by curfew, loss of light, weather conditions. No new innings will start after 1 hour and 45 minutes. However, once a team scores 5 runs during an inning, the “at bat” is concluded for that team. The last inning is an open inning.
Each player needs a glove and a helmet. As well, all junior players must provide their own bats. Metal cleats are allowed. We suggest that you bring water or a sports drink to keep hydrated during the game.
All players receive a baseball cap, jersey and pants (on a date to be determined in May). All players MUST wear the full uniform, including the pants for all games and practices. We are not insured and you CANNOT PLAY if they are not in full uniform for all games and practices. THIS INCLUDES THE MARTINGROVE HAT PROVIDED. THIS IS NON-NEGOTIABLE.
You can sign up on line or in person at the scheduled in-person registration dates as listed on the website. You can also download a registration form from the website and mail it to the league at our post office box (which address is on the registration form).
Yes, we always need coaches and assistant coaches. We ask that all parents help out with the coaching in the games and practices, it is more fun if everyone gets involved. We see the “coach” as the main contact person but everyone else “pitches in.” If you want to be a head coach or assistant coach please mark it on your registration form or contact Kimberley Baird at kimberley.m.baird@gmail,com
Our league is run on volunteers so if you have time to assist at the games and practices please do so. If you have time to volunteer for some other positions in the league please contact our Volunteer Co-Ordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org.
